Candida

by R

Question:

What is the best type of olive leaf for Candida, capsules or liquid extract and what dosage would you suggest please?

Answer:

Both types will work.
As Candida typically takes longer to eliminate than other health issues like colds and 'flu, the fact that tinctures start to work sooner than capsules is not much of an issue.

You may however find that the taste of tinctures gets too much after a while, in which case you can start or continue with capsules which don't have that problem.

I recommend starting on the lowest dosages indicated on the olive leaf container when dealing with Candida, as your symptoms are likely to ramp up at first. Increase dosage as you are comfortably able to. Drink adequate amounts of water to flush away toxins.

As always with Candida, the root cause must be addressed for complete and lasting success. There is more information on the website about this.

Candida treatment

Question:
Can I take ethanol based tinctures for Candida? I seem to have a return of the symptoms when I take it. I dilute 40 drops in 250ml of water. The tincture has ethanol 94/4%m/m and says final alcohol 30%m/m

Answer:
Yes the ethanolic tinctures are very effective for Candida. You may just be experiencing a "die off" effect, which essentially means it is working. (You can use much less water for your dose, such as 25ml-50ml).
However, you should probably do more than just take olive leaf for a Candida infection. While it is effective in dealing with Candida, you need to restore healthy gut bacteria.

To help restore the correct gut bacteria, I would recommend making and eating fermented foods which are rich in probiotic bacteria (See You Tube - you
can make it out of cabbage alone). There are also starter cultures which are probably a good idea but not essential.

Make sure you are not taking too many refined carbohydrates as in fizzy drinks, cakes, biscuits, sweets or even too much fruit.
Medication such as antibiotics and birth control pills also disrupt beneficial gut bacteria.

Eat plenty of raw vegetables, and try to get organic meat and chicken which has not been fed antibiotics.

Depending on how bad the situation is, you may need to get a book to help you with your diet to overcome a Candida overgrowth.

Buckeye

I have all the symptoms of yeast infections given in the article. What is best for me to take just starting out??

Answer:
A tincture of any sort or a pure Olive Leaf capsule would be a good place to start - nothing too strong.

You can expect a worsening of symptoms for a few days. Once this is over, increase your dosage to the max. for your age/size - see dosage tab.

With yeast infections it is always good to cut down on the typical refined sugary foods, sodas, bread and cakes that encourage yeast overgrowth and increase your salads, raw & cooked vegetables for your carbs. You won't crave sweet things this way.
Fish, antibiotic-free meats, eggs and rice cakes are also fine. (Dr. Yutsis FAVER diet).

Cultured vegetables are a great and inexpensive way to correct your gut bacteria - you can make them yourself and they provide huge doses of beneficial bacteria. You get used to the taste, at first some people don't like them but soon they taste delicious and give a burst of energy.

If your infection is bad, you may have to look closer at your diet & other medications after doing the above but in minor cases this should do the trick.

Brands?

by K

Question:
Which brands are the best for viral issues? I have Country Life 150mg 18% oleuropien capsules right now and I'm reading that the liquid is more effective, I just don't know which brand is best!
Thanks

Answer:
Any brand using good organic leaves or with a sufficient standardised oleuropein content should work. See the dosage page for some insight into this.
Some will work better than others and this is partly to do with the quality of leaves used and the extraction process, and partly to do with your own absorption.
If your absorption is not good, a strong ethanolic tincture will do well, but they do taste strong and you may need to mix them with a little juice.
The capsules you have should work fine. Make sure you are taking enough for your purposes.
